We're looking at changing our fiscal calendar from Jan.1-Dec. 31 to a Feb. 1-Jan. 31 period.  Has anyone done this and how did you handle the one month gap?  Lawson documentaion talks about GL500 but that just seems to adjust history.  We're iSeries, 9.0.0.4 apps and 9.0.0.5 env.

Hi,

I'm new to lawsonguru and subscribed to this post.  I am in a technical role right now and my financial application skills are rusty.  I do remember that there is Lawson Web Based Training (WBT) module that covers your issue.  Unfortunately my current employer has not purchased the WBT courses.  It might be this course:  General Ledger Year-end Considerations – WBT (WPGLYECN).  Good luck

GL500 will handle what you are trying to do--for GL. It will "rotate" the calendar, change existing transactions as well as history. You will definitely want to run it in a test environment first, as well as do a full backup of your apps database before running it.
Besides GL, what other apps do you have?

John,  We also run AC, AM, AR, AP, HR, PR, PA, Absence mgt. (LP?), Benefits, and that about covers it.  Mike

I think you would also need to address calendars in AC, AR, AP and AM.

I don't know the reason for the change, if it is related more to reporting you could also use multi-ledger to remap your calendars to the different fiscal months and still be able to report on both calendar and fiscal. Just a thought.
