We are currently testing portal for a/p. Are there any major teaching hospitals currently using portal for accounts payable, that can share their experience with that conversion with us. We have several major concerns, including substantial increased a/p processing time

How can there be substantial ap processing time? WebSphere driven portal should be just as fast as LID when configured properly.

We switched all of our AP users to Portal from LID almost 2 years ago now. Like Jimmy said if configured properly you should not see major differences in time to process. Our issues dealt more with how people were familiar with moving around in LID and transferring between forms without picking their hands up from the keyboard. Much of the push back is change/change management. If I have used LID for 10 years, I am used to it and don't want to give up what is familiar. That is even more true in areas that are heavy data entry and many are not IT super users. They fear change, any change.
Our users quickly adapted and are processing without issues related to speed. As you upgrade keep in mind that when you turn on LS security, the users are portal users. I would start prep work on a transition plan for them, we started informing our users of the change months in advance to get them ready. We rolled out the portal to them and they could choose for a while which to use knowing that soon the transition to portal would be permanent.

We did the change from LID to portal a couple of years ago also and our issues were much as Mark said - just the getting used to having to move around differently.
One of the things I did to make the transition smoother for the users was to configure the role I assigned them so that LID hotkeys worked the same (drill, select, clearing the form). I also used design studio to simplify the form more so that I could point to fewer keystrokes. Still took them time to stop complaining.
