How can I remove workunits from appearing in user inbaskets?

I've got some workunits I'd like to cancel and remove from user inbaskets. I set the status to those workunits as 8-Cancelled completed.
I stopped and restarted bpm, rmi and em, and refreshed IOS Cache.
But the workunits are still appearing in the user inbaskets.

You can't just set the status to 8, you have to click the Cancel button. Set them back to
4 and then click Cancel.

You can change the status to Cancel Requested (5), it is the same as pushing the Cancel button.

Suppose a user who created the work unit realizes he/she created it in error. Can they be given a way to cancel the work unit even though it's in the approver's inbasket?

Hello, this is an old post, but I have a need for this solution.  We are on IPA and want to cancel workunits in process, get them out of the InBaskets.  We tried setting the pfiworkunit.status field to 5 but that does not result in the workunit getting removed from the InBasket.  Was anyone able to accomplish this?  Thank you.

Hi NHBB - are these workunits related to Landmark ActionRequests? If so, you need to withdraw or reject the ActionRequest rather than the WorkUnit. An ActionRequest may be active even though the WorkUnit was cancelled.

If you are referencing LSF tasks instead, then I can't help you, sorry.

Hi Woozy, I'm sorry I did not clarify.  We are running IPA and the workunits I am trying to cancel are on the LSF side.  Thank you for responding.

For canceling work units in IPA for our requisition approval I just select cancel on the work unit in question in the Rich Client and it's removed from the inbasket.  But that doesn't change the status of the req.  I would have to use RQ13 to approve/reject/unrelease.

Hi JonA, the challenge is cancelling the workunits without doing it from the Rich Client IPA administrator or from the Portal InBasket.  At month end any pending workunits of a certain type all have to be cancelled and we are trying to do it via a process (IPA or program) which can be scheduled.  Thank you.

If you have enough workunits to cancel from the Inbasket that warrants work effort with IPA, I would investigate the cause for so many workunits needing to be cancelled outside of the Inbasket. In addition, perhaps you might consider a third option for all requisitions as we did. Namely, RETURN. This allowed for requisitions to be returned to the originator for further action.
