We're a regional hospital and issue a good number of scholarships to assist nursing students with tuition. Our recruiters have been keeping track of the scholarship awards and periodic tuition payments in an Access database.

I'm on a crusade to eliminate as many peripheral ad-hoc systems as I can, for maintainance and security reasons. Now, my recruiters tell me that the IRS wants to begin taxing scholarships/tuition assistance as income (don't have all the details there.)

Is anyone using Lawson to track scholarships in any way? The scholarship recipients may or may not be current employees (usually not), but we're moving toward entering all of our non-employed staff into Lawson anyway.

Any assistance will be greatly appreciated. Even if you're not currently tracking scholarships in Lawson, but just have a good idea, please share!! ;-)

It can be a fairly simple custom "subsystem" for maintaining that information [about 6 tables or so], with an export to PR530 to create time records for the reimbursement (using standard Lawson pay codes to code as taxable income, etc.)
Thanks for using the LawsonGuru.com forums!
