Can anyone provide the steps to move payroll history?
I have an employee that was hired and paid. After some time, he terminated. He decided to come back to us and was rehired. When the employee rehire was entered, the SS# was entered wrong so a new employee number, etc was created. The employee was paid under the wrong SS#. We need to move the history from the wrong SS# to the correct SS# so his W2 will be correct.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

Lawson does not have a "combine employee" function, so the only way to move payroll history is to use PR82 to "move" the pay history, meaning you process PR82's to backout the payment from the wrong employee # and more PR82's to enter the pay history under the correct employee number. There are ways to upload to PR82 to reduce the manual entry.
I'm pretty sure you could use PR560, but for one employee, and one payment, I'm guessing it would be more work than the PR82 route.

We've had the same situation here - I can't really tell from your post how much history you'll be moving? As Karen states, you can use PR82 to move the wages - however, the downside to that is that you lose the payment number history for the employee. Here are a couple of other things to think about - do you want to actually delete the employee record with the bad SSN? If so, you'll want to make sure that you move all history - personnel actions, volutary deds, benefits. How long was the break in service - was the term and re-hire in this same year? If, per chance it's not, you could simply correct the SSN, and use the current record. We've done that and changed the name field on the old ee nbr to incorporate the new employee number. Just to keep it cleaner, we also made sure to close out any manuals, etc. before performing the data entry to move the wages, then ran a separate pr141 and close for the individual. Makes research a LOT easier if questions come up in the future! Good luck

Thanks for the suggestions. We knew we could use PR82 but we were not sure what else to consider. With Lawson, there are always other things to consider.

We were successful in moving the information for the employee mentioned here. However, I have another one that is similar that we are having trouble correcting. We have two employees with the same employee number in two different companies. We are moving to one HR/PR company and these employees are an issue. I have moved the pay history for one of them to a new employee number. We wanted to delete this employee number after the history was moved. We are getting the error message "cannot delete; payment records exist". I cannot figure out what is causing this error since all the pay history was moved via PR82. Can anyone help point me to a place to troubleshoot this error?

lawson just doesn't allow to delete an employee # when payroll history exisits, even if you zero out via PR82. anyway, even when no history exists, our auditors' ears point up when employee #'s were deleted...
