What are Lawson's plans for incorporating UDI (unique device identification) bar coding and tracking / reporting?   Or do they have any plans for this yet?  Who do I need to talk with?

Not entirely clear here, but Lawson needs the ability (and fields) to scan these bar codes, and associate with receipts.  Items, Devices, etc.

Anyone know anything about this, yet?

My last session yesterday at Inforum was about GLN/GTIN and EDI but they touched on UDI and new FDA regs. I believe they have plans to add a field for UDI. Shoot an email to Keith Lohkamp @ Infor for the details.

I had logged a ticket with Infor Support back in October and was given this repsonse:

"We already support UDI through our support of GS1 standards and HIBCC UPN numbers.

Attached is a one slide summary that highlights our support.

For a background on UDI, you can check the recording from a webinar that was hosted last week where an expert explain UDI and the value of UDI.

On this microsite:
getconnected.infor.com

Or direct link:

Hope this helps."

Thanks,

Maris

Thanks all! This info is exactly what our users wanted. I contacted Keith Lohkamp @ Lawson and he sent me his presentation slides. Those combined with the webinar were exactly what the users were looking for.

We are honestly waiting to tackle this until the majority of suppliers are complying with providing G** information with their items.

We are getting close to going live on Epic and I was asked by their project lead if we were were loading GTINs in Lawson. I told them that I'd like to but manufacturers don't seem to be making that information readily available. So they provided me an extract from the GUDID (https://accessgudid.nlm.nih.gov/) of nearly 1 million devices/supplies. I've bumped it up against the mfg item number in IC11 and got some 30K hits out of 85K items. Now I just need to verify which takes some time, I've verified about 50% so far. On the Access GUDID web site you can download the latest full database release, looks to be about 1.25 million records now. But the file is a zip file 50+ xml files. I don't know how to easliy convert xml to csv or xls. If someone has a trick to doing this that would be awesome.

There's also and implantable device download that contains a zip file of over 500k records in csv and xls format.

Another one that I found, keeps all of the csv together.... but it took forever just on part 1 of 52 (of the full download) https://sourceforge.net/p...?source=typ_redirect

Greg, have you had any luck converting? I'm finding these files are too large for any of these applications to handle. I tried the one from Sourceforge and I left it to convert the first file overnight and it still wasn't finished. I found you can import XML into Excel from the Data tab/From Other Sources/From XML Data Import. But it keeps failing and I'm assuming it's because of the file size.

Jon: To tell you the truth, I tried one of the tools, it worked on the 1st of 52 files, but didn't leave me with the output I wanted. I downloaded the other utility -- and it also worked but took about 3 hours of 1 of 52 files.
Next, I got busy doing something else and haven't been back to it since.
