We have been on Lawson since January 2015 and things have been going well.  I am now trying to handle issues that were not as pressing in the beginning.

How does everyone handle flagging Purchase Orders as Overnight or 2nd Day, via faxing or going through GHX.

Thanks

Trish

Hi, when its an over night or 2nd day we always call it in. Many of the messages that can be entered on a PO do not transmit, or is not picked up by the vendor. Faxed would of course show, but we would rather confirm with the vendor when special delivery is needed.

Thanks

Same here. If the supply needs to be expedited we contact customer service directly. Although, one of our buyers has a good relationship with a couple vendors and he'll manually fax the PO with "OVERNIGHT SHIPPING" written with a sharpie at the top of the PO. He says he doesn't have any problems with this method.

My approach has been to email the PO with the special request to the sales representative  or the person that is making commission on the order. I always ask for confirmation that the  PO was received. If I don't receive an email within a certain time frame, I call.

During vendor evaluations, response time to special delivery requests can be discussed.

Our buyers know which vendors can safely be EDI'd to and still get overnighted and which ones need to be called in instead. We try to EDI everything we can but will also fax, email or call in orders if there are special instructions.
