Would any of you be willing to share some general guidelines on the security setup of the Supply Chain Analyst team in Lawson, especially for Healthcare organizations?  Does that group have full access to PO IC & WH, or is that add/change/delete limited to just the owners of those areas?

Also, is your Supply Chain Analyst team its own team, or are they considered part of Purchasing/Inventory/Receiving?

I am the SCM Analyst - so I can answer for us. In general, I have rights to all of the 00 setups, and most 100 jobs and 300 jobs for IC/WH and PO/RQ. I do not have rights to the 500/800 series or the DVTs. There are 3 SCM Analysts and we support all Purchasing/Inventory/Receiving and we report to the SCM Operations Manager so we are not IT.

In general, we maintain the SCM data: setups for the company, locations, users and the item master; reporting and statistical analysis; and act as subject matter experts for the IT projects. IT maintains the security, automation, server, interfaces and likely a ton more I don't know.

I've seen organizations where my position answers to IT. Here, the analysts sit in their supported department - that decision was made before my time, I'm told it was because of budget. The SCM VP is best suited to decide if he needs 1 or 3 Analysts to meet the needs of his department. If I was in IT, the SCM VP would need to justify to that manager who would then have to fight for an FTE.

My setup is almost identical to Kat's except there is only me, myself and I. I am housed in Purchasing and paid for out of Purchasing but support all of Supply Chain Services. Depending on the project, the majority of my time can be spent on Inventory/Receiving which would be technically a different cost center but still reports up to the Director of Supply Chain.

I don't answer to IT but my job was recently re-classified as an IT position.

Yes, the Central Supply warehouses technically report to their CFOs and we do not have a connection to them, but we're their support team.
