Is it possible to set up an alternate print directory for Lawson reports?
Is it possible to set it up for everyone, or a named user?
I already know about and can use the 'Reports' feature in batch jobs which lets me name an alternate print file name for a specific report for a user, but I want to configure or name the print file directory for some named users other than LAWDIR/print, without having to reinstall the environment.
Possible? This is on windows environment.
Thanks in advance,
Roger

Are you trying to get to more storage space? If so, you can do it with an alternate mount point (a la Unix) from Windows drive manager. You would need to temporarily move current %LAWDIR%\print contents somewhere else (i.e. folder must be empty).

Thanks John
Not for more space, but I have a need to have the print directory with a shorter path name
Example: E:\lawprod\law\apps\print\
\
\printfilename or E:\lawprod\law\print\
\
\printfilename
In this example: LAWDIR = E:\lawprod\law\apps
I want the print directory to be (just as one example) to be located to E:\lawprod\print
I know this may not be supported by Infor/Lawson but I want to know if it is possible.
We have some instances where the user ID is rather long and the limit for path+ print files name is 60 characters and we don't have the possibility of using shorter user IDs. The problem is that with some user ID's because the entire path + print file name is greater than 60 characters, some print files (specifically from GL90 CSV export) are NOT showing up in print manager because the .csv portion is being truncated from the actual print file name.

I've done this a couple of ways. Similar to unix, you can create a symbolic link (mklink command) on another folder that is shorter to the print file directory. That would give them something link E:\print as their path - and it works in jobs.
The caveat is that you have to create the link on a server drive itself - can't be a share of any kind - otherwise Lawson won't use it.
We've done this exact same thing with the work folder - and then tied the links to a mapped drive on their desktop with permissions to allow them to drag and drop work files - without having to place all kinds of permissions on the work folder itself.

Thanks George for the idea. I will try that and we shall see.

It works and it doesn't work.
I was able to create the symbolic link OK and it seems to work with jobs, but unfortunately if the original print file create on the source link is incorrect or wrong, it's also incorrect or wrong on the target of the link.
