I'm installing websphere 8..5 on windows vm 2008. I am at a screen 'security certificate (part 1) I'm not certain of the responses that I should use.
Create a new default personal certificate
Import an existing default personal certificate.
Would someone please share what this is an where I would get a certificate?
I typically select 'Create a new default personal certificate' and 'Create a new root signing certificate' and let IBM work their magic (I increase the expiry period to 15 years too). The default password is 'WebAS', but you have an option to change it on the next screen - I typically change this too and make note of it in my documentation.
Here's a good Red Book resource that explains the default keystores and truststores that are created when a profile is created - reference page 67:
Each profile contains a unique chained certificate signed by a unique long-lived root certificate that is generated when the profile was created. When a profile is federated to a deployment manager, the signer for the root signing certificate is added to the common truststore for the cell, establishing trust for all certificates signed by that root certificate.
