We're in the process of testing an in place upgrade of our Lawson environment & applications from 9.0.0 to 9.0.1.  I've got the environment up and running on 9.0.1 but I've run into problems upgrading the applications.

When I install the DPP, I'm getting the following error in the DPP install.log.

Error: Unable to establish a database connection.  Encountered error: Unable to open $LAWDIR/system/ladb.log.

I've verified that ladb is running and everything else in the environment appears to be working so I'm not sure why i'm getting the error.

Check permissions on ladb.log.

It looks correct, these users have full control.

- Local Administrators
- LawsonUsers ( a domain group containing all lawson users and lawson account)
- SYSTEM

Which user are you using to do the DPP install?
You might want to run permsmaint.
Thanks for using the LawsonGuru.com forums!

We are running the DPP install under the Lawson user. I'll check into the permsmaint utility.

Thanks.

Thanks everyone for their assistance but I think we've found the solution.

This error was caused by us running LUU on Windows 2003 during the DPP install. We had hoped to switch off MKS as part of the upgrade but apparently you need to be on Windows 2008 to completely use LUU.

Once we reverted back to MKS, we were able to install DPP.
