Internal hosting vs. Lawson hosting

In general, I am interested in hearing your thoughts about the pluses and minuses of internal hosting vs. Lawson platinum or other hosting services. Our internal IT professionals from an AS400 and SQL perspective are more than adequate to support from the hardware / application availability standpoint, the lack of knowledge is specific to Lawson software and processes. Without factoring in all of the financial aspects, please share your experiences, challenges, and recommendations regarding internal vs. hosted.

The entire hosting concept seems to swing in and out of favor... I think it is probably different when you can customize and run your system the way you want. I have noticed that sometimes the Software as a service offerings are great until they try to make everyone fit their model. When you want to process something differently you end up wanting to move to an internal system. (I think most of the hosting solutions allow you to customize and run your system the way you want.)

Like the Blog.... I never hear that he said it was stupid (or worse) people who "think of it" are stupid. I think it makes sense in some situations .... Thanks for the information.
