We're in the process of planning the upgrade/update/switch to use ADFS instead of LS as STS.

Can someone point me to a doc that says if a seperate ADFS server is a requirement for Ming.le version 11 or if it is just a recommendation?

I'm not aware of a document per se but yes in my experience that is true. With Mingle 12/InforOS it is not a requirement.

We just implemented ADFS and a separate server is not mandatory. Installing the ADFS feature in Windows is not that difficult but since we provide public access to emss and other non Lawson third-party applications our configuration was a little more complicated. To handle this and also satisfy future considerations where mingle 12 will no longer need SharePoint we stood up two ADFS instances - one to service Lawson related connections and the second for other corporate requirements. We put the Lawson specific ADFS instance on our mingle server and when we eventually move to mingle 12 and SharePoint is no longer required we will consolidate back to one ADFS server. We worked with Intellias on this project and Rob did a super job.

          Hi Joe,

I've been reading some documentation that led me to believe that ADFS needed to be installed before IFS. That's not really the case since your company was able to install ADFS on your existing mingle server? Or did you build a new server for ADFS and mingle?

We have mingle foundation, IFS, and sharepoint running on one server.

          Thanks.

I can’t speak for Joe, but I believe you can install ADFS on an existing Ming.le system, and you’re supposed to be able to reconfigure IFS.

Normally I have to uninstall IFS, and reinstall it for ADFS to work
