We have to complete several asset surveys each year. The surveys require us to group certain pieces of equipment in categories with ACES codes. These 3 digit codes are used to report out equipment like computers (code 311), Office equipment (312), medical equipment (317). In our old Sage Fixed Assets software we created a category that was required for each asset to be either NA (for building, land, leasehold improvements) or one of the 3 digit codes for moveable, fixed, and software. This was a requried field so you couldn't add the asset without it. We also set up a list for the field so you could only pick the available 3 digit codes and couldn't enter a code that doesn't exist. We could then run reports based on this category.
This was never transferred when the assets were converted so we need to add this code to each asset. It appears in the AM module we need to add an attribute to the Asset Management to track these. After reading the manual, we are having difficulty with the steps to get the attributes set up. Has anyone else used attributes in Infor? Is there a resource to guide us step by step on the screens used?
We plan on running a query on all the assets, adding the code and uploading back to Infor. Any help to get us to the right screens to ensure proper set up of the attribute would be great.
Thanks!

Set up 3 asset attribute templates, one for each code on MX05.1 Object Type = Asset. Just do this manually. Then build your upload by asset and template for AM23.
