Hello all...

We are working on a upgrade tasks for a client. The application upgrade is from 8 to 9.

we are in processing of preparing a questionaire to understand their current system and also planning to include questions related to LBI, portal, workflow etc.,

Is there any standard questionaire which can be used to do the analysis or any thing of such kind? If so...any details on this would be of great help to us....

Ask your client to download the UIP (Upgrade Information Packet) from Lawson that comes with the upgrade program. You are going to need it. Go through the "Planning Checklist" with your client.

You need to frame the questions accordingly, but here're some tips that could help you cover the areas...
From technology
1. Understand their current minor version 803 ESP7 or 803 ESP 6 etc. Have a clear idea of which version are they going to upgrade into. Is it LSF9 SP4 or SP5 etc.
2. Have a clear process (either you propose or get agreed upon) of the new SP releases that will come through during upgrades & how you'll apply them
3. How many recurring jobs are available in the existing environment. Converting them are going to be a real challenge
4. Are there any data migration plan? How many years of data are planned to bring from old system to new?
There're so much here, but not sure if the environment is getting upgraded. Hence I stop with this.

From Apps
1. Go through the UIP. Check how many old tables are getting merged into new tables, what're their corresponding cols that goes into new ones. Hope you got the point.
2. Understand the customizations that are built. Have a strategy in place to bring all the customization from old to new. For instance, stage a development, test environment & qa environments before prod. Have a DEV environment where all the dev activities are carried out & a TEST environment where you test it & move it to qa for further testing & then finally into prod.
