I'm planning an article on RMI/Tomcat/Portal stability, and need your input.
Specifically, I'm looking for:
- How are global and/or 24x7 organizations dealing with having to restart RMI?
- What versions, ESPs, patches, settings, etc. seem to make it more stable?
- What software combinations and/or platforms (Tomcat/Apache, Tomcat/IIS, Websphere, etc. etc.) seem to perform the most reliably?
- If you've suffered from RMI instability, have you contacted Lawson? If so, were you satisfied with their response?
Thanks in advance!

Hi John,
Our RMI server (POOLSERVER) is running under Websphere Express 5.0 in iSeries env. There are 10 instances of it for 10 Lawson Env. The performance is OK and not encountered any problem related to RMI, EXCEPT, once awhile, the poolserver of one env started earlier in the autostart job when iSeries started every morning, the POOLSERVER not only run on the port dedicated on its eli.property, but also occupies one of other Websphere's RMI (BootTrap) port that started seconds later. it causes the other websphere server fails to start. When look at the netstat view, the POOLServer job started ealier run on two ports. We are not sure why it is happening yet. Thanks,
Tony
