Override DSSO log-ins?

We have a Crystal Report with Drill-Arounds built in along with a few Smart Notifications on a manager level dashboard.  However, most of the managers that access the dashboard do not have a user ID with true access to Lawson applications (they are self-service IDs for ESS).  Our management is concerned with licensing issues and costs, and do not want to build individual application/authentication users, and instead want to use a generic user that has already been set-up.

LBI is set-up for DSSO security, and I am tasked with finding a way to override the DSSO and LAL for these users and instead pass the generic user ID when drilling on the Crystal report or viewing the application links on the Smart Notes.  Is this possible?

For Crystal - you should be able to hard code a user if you created the report with an ODBC connection (I don't know if you can with OLE-DB) on the data settings of the report.

For Smart Notes, you can email the Notification out to users instead of having them log into Framework Services (Dashboard). You can create an email group in Outlook and have your note sent to that email.

As David stated the running of the crystal report and SmartNotes can be mitigated, however the LAL links to forms within Lawson is going to be difficult. This requires an authenticated session. In Framework Services you can create Device-Only users but again these users cant login, you can only send them content. If all the users required the same access within Lawson you could create a user and grant that user access both in Lawson and LBI then all of the identified users should share the credentials but I dont know if this meets the requirements.

I will look into the possibility of e-mailing the SmartNotes. I'm not sure if using the one user in LBI will work since some of the content is filtered by user (HR information and departmental financials).

We have both ODBC and OLE-DB reports currently, but it is the OLE-DB that has drill-around (based on a RW100 report.) I have overridden the report user when it runs (which you can do for OLE-DB as well), but it still uses the user that is logged in when you drill to RW80.

Thanks for the ideas. I may need to table this for now until our App upgrade is complete and we start on using Lawson Security 9.

Matthew would you elaborate on how to create device only users? Do device only users need a Lawson ID when using Lawson Security and LBI DSSO? joanna.bledsoe@ps.net

Device only means they CANNOT login but you can send content to them via the report scheduler. Keep in mind only Crystal format and select Lawson Back Office reports can be scheduled.

Creating Device Only users is not detailed in the manual (I thought it was but I cant seem to find it in the 9.0.4.0 manual). It involves the importing of a device file. I would open a ticket with Lawson to get the official supported file structure.
