I'm so confused here. We have two pacemakers that are being ordered as specials but the cost the requisitioner is inputting is being changed/disregarded by the system.

Further investigation shows that these items have been purchased as specials in the past and it looks like Lawson is reverting to whatever the last options were set to. For example,

One item needs to be purchased at $3000 as a special but once the line is added, the cost is reverted to "No Charge". I checked PO63 and found a previous PO the special was on showed that someone set the cost option to "2" (aka No Charge). Neither RQ10 nor RQC will allow me to change the cost option or price for that item, stating "Requester not authorized to change unit cost". I'm definitely authorized to do this as I've done so in the past.

Has anyone ever had this issue?

In RQ04, for the requester trying to change the cost, what are the settings for the Allow Unit Cost Override section on the Main tab?

Ah, both vendor agreement and last po/cost are set to no. That would explain it but it's strange that Lawson wouldn't allow an override for a special type item considering it's not a real item in the item master.

Yeah, doesn't matter what the item type is. If the item number has history, Lawson will pull in last cost (if not on active agreement). If the requester isn't set up to override cost, they're stuck. Sometimes managers will use INVOICE as the item number in RQC for services that have already been rendered and can't override the last cost from a previous req where another used INVOICE. We now tell requesters to enter the INV and the invoice number.

We ran into this a couple of years ago and updated all of our RQ04 requester settings to "Y" on Use Entered Cost Default (REQ-MAN-OVER-ALWD) and under Allow Unit Cost Override "Y" from last PO or Last Cost. (REQ-OVER-LC-LP). That fixed the issue for us.

Sounds good, I'll see if I can make the suggestion to management. Thanks everyone.
