We have an employee that is having a problem that is unique to her PC. When she clicks on a drill around icon (for example - on HR11 - the Employee field), it is taking a very long time for the values to appear - over a minute. For everyone else, the values appear almost instantly. She just had IE8 installed on her PC, but others have that installed and they are not having this issue. Any ideas on what could be causing this problem?   We are completely stumped.

Has the user installed a new or different copy of JAVA?

If it is possible, installing Fiddler2 on the users PC and then going through and logging where the delay is taking place might help nail down the issue.

When clicking the Drill in portal (I am just assuming it was Portal), I can see the script makes at least two different JAVA calls. Since it is only apprearing on this one ueser's PC, then I would relate it to some ancillary software install.

You stated it was unique to her PC, has she tested on another PC or others tested their user on her PC?

My next thought is right there with JWH that I would do a fiddler session. If it is getting stuck making calls you should see that in the results.

One other thing to check is to see if everything on her PC is standard install. We have run into issues with people downloading other toolbars (google, bing, etc) that were causing some compatability issues on that PC.

Yes Mark - I always have users test on different PCs and vice versa to find out exactly where the problem is.

To update this - we resolved it yesterday -  she had a web search tool installed on her IE browser.  She didn't even know how it got there, of course.   We always tell our users to never install that crap...but occasionally one gets through.
