I installed sp6 (we are windows 2003/sql lsf 9.0.0.4 LCT, apps and portal. After I put on sp6 and patches and redeployed ear files. I tested and all was well. passed all smoke tests. I put on portal 9006 and all patches, deployed ear files etc. Passed all smoke tests. PROBLEM portal hangs when I next, inquire, etc. It just hangs and never moves on.  I am stuck and about to call to restore from backup.

Do you have LID access? First, I would LID in and see if the system hangs in LID when you do inquire/next etc. That will isolate the problem somewhat.

Assuming you have no problem doing next/inquire in LID. That problem will be isolated in websphere/IIS/lawson portal.

Start with a clean reboot on lawson (application and portal server).
When you applied portal patches, did you apply the patch in both core technology and portal web files?
After you updated the websphere applications, did you propagate the changes to your webserver? After you propagated the changes, the IIS needs to be restarted.
The hang problem could also be workstation issue, did you try to reproduce it on a different work station?

If all else failed, back out of the patch.

        LID access works as expected.

I have rebooted the server (technology, apps and webserver same server).
As far as I know I applied  each portal patch in both LCT and Portal (is there anyway to verify other than retrying each portal patch?)
I did generate and propagate the changes and restarted IIS.
I tested this on multiple computers and the error did not clear.

when you say back out the patch.. are you referring to the portal patches?

Yes, you can back out of the portal patches by rerunning the patch and choose the delete(?) option.

I would back out all the portal patches that you applied by reverse order. Your SP7 environment should still work with 9.0.0.4 portal.

Before you back out of the patch, have you try recompiling the programs that hang? Go in your pgmsrc folder and delete the corresponding xml file. That will make sure the compile regenerate an updated version of the xml.

              Chris,

Yes I had redeployed the ear files.
I backed out portal patches until I found the offender. I reported to Lawson via LIS. There was an issue with a combinationof lsf9 patch and a portal patch.

              This issue is resolved.
