BN46.1 - Flex Benefit Periods
Use Flex Benefit Periods (BN46.1) to view an employee's flex benefit
periods.
**Processing Effect
A flex benefit period is a period of time for which a particular combination
of an employee's flex benefits is in effect during a flex plan year. The
Benefits
application uses flex benefit periods to determine how many flex and pre-tax
dollars an employee has available and has spent on any date within a flex
year.
Initially, the Benefits application creates one flex benefit period
for the entire flex plan year. The flex benefit period corresponds to the
employee's flex dollar record in BN45.1 (Employee Flex Dollars). Each time
you stop benefits in a flex plan year, the Benefits application creates
another
flex benefit period.
For example, an employee enrolls in flex benefits from January 1, 1996,
to May 31, 1996. On June 1, the employee enrolls in other flex benefits until
the end of the flex year. The employee's flex benefit period for the first
group of benefits is 01/01/96 to 05/31/96, while the flex benefit period for
the second group of benefits is 6/01/95 to 12/31/95.
**More Information
The form displays the employee's use of flex dollars and pre-tax dollars
for each flex benefit period. However, this form does not show the flex
dollars
an employee receives for electing a plan if those dollars cannot be used to
purchase other benefits. To see those dollars, use BN46.2 (Flex Benefits
Inquiry).
