We have approximately 20,000 employees and are looking at some options regarding our pay cycles. We currently have two pay cycles that pay on alternating weeks. One option we are considering is moving to one pay cycle...has anyone else done this recently? We are on 9.0.
Outside of the employee communication pieces, any words of wisdom or advice?

Same number of employees and issue - converted to single pay period about 7-8 years ago. It can be done - just take a step at a time:
1) Check benefits (biggest area) - some were set up for 24 cycles with no deductions for 2 of the 26; some were set up for 26 pay cycles during the year. (Savings, insurance, etc)
2) TEST, TEST, TEST. Pay period end dates and time records during the transition to a single payroll will cause some heartburn. Review your steps and processes for the time records, etc.
We had 240+ locations to consolidate - make sure that you ADVERTISE the transition to the impacted group so that if they need to make adjustments to their auto pay (bank), etc., it can be done in conjunction with the transition. In a 2 cycle month, they will get 3 checks - 2 of which will be for a single week during the transition.
Hope this helps!

Lee - what time/day do you start the payroll close process and how until your payroll is closed and you send your final ftp's to the banks for payment?
