Upgrade downtime screens

I'm looking for how others perform this function to alert their customers during a downtime (usually upgrade) situation for Lawson.  We are a S3, AIX client

planned downtime, we post on portal login screen, and also thru internal email.

Same thing here.  We have a splash page for our Lawson application (as well as for all of our applications) and we post outage notices there.
