We are on 9.0.1.10 and upgrading essbase to 11 - has anyone able to get the lawson api to work with 11 for the IA120 to still work?

We did not. Our initial reason for upgrading to Essbase 11 was that the Addins would not work when we upgraded MS Office Excel. Then we found that the minimum version of Essbase supported by Oracle was a later version than the Essbase version supported by the Lawson Essbase API. We ended up using the output of IA120 and creating an ftp to the Essbase server and using MXL code to do the load into Essbase.

Were you able to create the same datamart? Was it seemless for your end users?

Yes. But we used contractors, so I don't know if they were able to upgrade the existing cubes or had to rebuild them.

Hello, Terry Wier from Dashboard Gear here.

Essbase users might want to know Dashboard Gear offers a fully supported reporting alternative.

In addition to a comprehensive set of pre-joined relational tables for detailed Crystal/SSRS type production reporting our solution includes pre-built OLAP cubes for:

• HR
• PR
• PR Distributions
• BN
• Position Control
• Personnel Actions

• GL Amounts/Budgets
• GL Distributions
• AC Amounts
• AP Vendors/Invoices
• AP Distributions

• Requisitions
• Purchase Orders
• Inventory
• Material Management Distributions

Most of our customers use Excel pivot tables with our cubes.

I would recommend looking into Dashboard Gear. Essbase 11 is much more difficult to support from an IT perspective and the business is having difficulty with the new admin console. I wish we had looked into it before upgrading.

I'll second that recommendation...

I have worked a few clients who have it, all were pleased and actually relied on it.

I did get Essbase 11.1.2.3 to work with Lawson 9.0.1.10. What I am concerned about now is what happens when it stops working - I know that day is coming! The issue we have is our end users are used to controlling the data refresh using the IA120. Our consultant said the only way the end users can update data is to give them EAS access??
