Seems like we review this every few years..

Is it better to set up a supervisor code that reflects a position (i.e. Manager of Billing) and then tie the appropriate employee to that supervisor code (and any subsequent employees who may hold that position in the future) or assign a new supervisor code every time there is a change in supervisors?

Pros Cons of each?

I say it is better to attach them to the position code so when one person and a new one is hired, the structure is intact and the new employee number updates HR07 automatically.

Otherwise, you have to update the codes and all the employees.

We actually don't use position codes  - I used the word Position but it is actually the description we use for the supervisor code

Colleen - do you do everything with job codes then? How many of those do you have?

Yes, we never implemented positions.  We currently have a little over 600 job codes in 4 companies
