Lawson is forcing everyone to go to Absence Mgmt. I have not heard good things about it. Does anyone have any information that can give me an idea how it works and what it is capable of? I will get the user guides from the support site but I was hoping to have a "cheat Sheet" or summary. If anyone has set up suggestions, greatly appreciated. Can the system automatically move hours from a vacation plan to a sick plan when people go over the max limit? Thanks for any help you can give me. Barbara

See "Is Absence Management the 8.1 'Killer App'?" at https://www.danalytics.co.../archive/2004-08.htm for a list of features which distinguish it from TA.
Thanks for using the LawsonGuru.com forums!

N.B. Lawson has relaxed the decommission date to June 1, 2010.

Whenever you deal with a software you have to expect changes will occur. Lawson is also "forcing" everyone to 9.0 and "forcing" everyone to Portal. If you think about these changes as positive evolutions they become easier to handle. You should also assess the parties that tell you that AM is not a good product. Are these people that are still running Lawson 7.2 in character mode or are they people that have LSF9, Portal and LBI. Is the issue related to their business process or the actual design of the product. A good place to start is the Knowledge Base and search for patches for the module, less pathces means more stable system.

More to your questions, I have found the best places to learn about changes are at user groups and more importantly CUE. I am not going this year, but I bet if you look you will find whole classes dedicated to moving to Absence Mgmt. Some will be taught by Lawson, some by clients, some will be technical and some will be functional. All of them will be at least partially helpful. If you can get into an Academy class you will get to use the product hands-on and you can test some of the things that may concern you.

Does anyone know where I can obtain a definitive upcoming Decomission Listing of Lawson Products? It would be so helpful in planning ahead. Thanks.

mylawson.com then look for Product Documentation and I believe there is a Decommission Notice section.

If you can't find it, call your account rep, that is their job.

The listing is under the "My Products" section. Scroll down and you should see a Decommission Notices section.
