Since Lawson no longer offers a Datamart solution what are most customers using?

Lawson offers BPW for S3. Its more of a tool that allows you to build your own data marts. It does require some proficiency with ETL and data mart design techniques. There is also a solution called DashboardGear. They offer more of a turnkey solution.

These are the two that Im familiar with.

Lisa,
I missed catching up with you at CUE this year. As Matthew said, there are two solutions out there is you don't have resources to just build in house.

I played with BPW at CUE, it was a nice solution that is much stronger than Analytic Architech, it was easy to use in the academy. This has been in place on the M3 side for several years and they are introducing it to the S3 market.

We also have a employee turnover solution that we had Dashboard Gear provide. Rich has been great to update/modify our cube as our needs have evolved.

These two solutions really come down to how much time/effort/resources you have in house to build vs having someone build it for you.

If I could just add couple notes. I am currently working with a Lawson client on a BPW/LBI project. BPW will require you to have someone on staff that has the knowledge to use the ETL tool on a go forward basis, of course Lawson would be willing to provide you with the resources to get it up and running, but it is a very robust tool and your organization would need to get someone on staff up to speed to administer the tool.

On the other hand, Dashboard Gear is a complete turnkey solutions with minimal upkeep that Rich is always available to do. In addition to the ease of purchasing a solution and having it deployed end-user ready, I personally believe the ROI with Dashboard Gear is much greater than with BPW.

Hope this helps!

BPW is a "State of the art" Data Warehouse Solution from Lawson. After more than 50 BI Projects I can say that I have never seen something ingenious like BPW and I am a follower of technology and a visitor of TDWI conference and have seen many ways our customers have tried to go.

The last project I delivered was the biggest BI-Project in the history of Lawson. To give you an idea: At the moment more than 800 Mio. rows are processed in the BPW ETL-Job every night and in LBI we delivery up to 6.000 interactive reports daily to more than 900 Managers and 2.000 M3 Users. This is done by BPW and LBI.

Good Luck!

Being new to the Lawson world, we have BPW in on a POC. Lawson support just told me that won't support my install questions for BPW, documentation is lame.:whistling:

So, for those guru's that have done this install what are the proper steps? I have figured out the Source/Catalog terminology where Catalog is the target, but I can't get the tool to build out the pre-defined model Lawson told us that comes with the tool.

Thoughts?

I am new to Lawsonguru. Can someone please tell me how to use a SQL View, that is running off a table in the Staging area in BPW, as a data source for BPW?

I am able to use a CSV as a datasource. How do I use a database table (e.g. a table in catalog or staging) as a datasource? I am able to do this in other ETL tools but its not working for me in BPW.
