Duplicate Dependents

What are the ramifications you've found for either scenario? I believe for complete history we should not allow duplicates. Just trying to get an idea of best practice. Thanks.

Duplicates are just messy because reporting shows benefit coverage for one dependent under two records. It is a much bigger issue if an associate changes an existing dependent record. For example - using ex spouse record to change name to be the new spouse when remarried. History will show the new spouse as if they were covered in benefits that the ex spouse actually had...
