We currently have medical and vision plans set up under the benefit type of HL (Health). This is because we cannot set up the vision under any other benefit type.

We will be rolling out BSS within the year and are making plans to add waive plans to each of our benefit types for all of our groups. How will this work with the vision plans? Should we set up two waive plans? One for medical and one for vision?

ETA: We are currently not using Categories on the BN15. It appears that we should be. But if I want to add categories then I wil have to build all new benefit plans correct?

Yes, you will want to have a waive plan for each type of benefit for which waiver is a valid option. We have a waiver for our Medical plan and a waiver for our Vision plan.

I don't know why you would need to rebuild your benefit plans to add the category on BN15.

We have a medical waive plan and a vision waive plan. Don't forget to set them up on the BS screens.

We also have a setup like you have mentioned, our vision is under a HL type.

I have built a waive for our health and a waive for Vision. You will be able to seperate them in the BS setup and the users will not know that vision is setup as a HL type.

Is anyone using the categories? Or are they unneccessary?

Barb - when I try to add the category, it says I cannot change the plan because there are active particpants. Information on mylawson.com indicates I would have to rebuild the plans if I want to add that.
