We're going from 9.0.1.5 to 9.0.1.9.  Our 9.0.1.5 is currently on 1.5 java.  The requirement for 9.0.1.9 is 1.6 java, so we need to upgrade that first.

From your experience, what is the easiest way to do this, especially considering there are two javas - java and websphere java

Different JDK's can coexist in the server. I normally do a brand new install and update the path to use the new java. For websphere, i think version 7.0 is mandatory with FixPack 21 which should have JDK version 1.6.

9.0.1.10 is GA, i just completed the install yesterday.

Thanks for the info.

Fun fact: java 1.6 is really java 6. Baw, haw, haw, haw.

(We like to keep one version back, to avoid troubleshooting too much which usually comes with latest and greatest - lawson actually supports this as they have told us they will support the current version and one version back as well, insofar as creating patches for issues)

I'll install java 6. What about websphere? Do I go through AIX to do websphere's java, or am I looking at upgrading the entire websphere?

Thanks again

Install guide states that Lawson supports only WebSphere version 7 for 9.0.1.9.

WebSphere 7.0 already has JDK 1.6 if you need to update to the latest fix pack it is recommended to update the application server and JDK at the same time even though you can maintain them separately.

If you are WebSphere 6.1, my understanding is that you have to upgrade to version 7.0.
