I'm really hoping someone can help. Ever since we upgraded from Winfax to the new Lawson Fax Integrator and MS Fax Console, the speed of the fax transmissions has become painfully slow. It takes almost 3 minutes per page, in contrast to several seconds per page before our upgrade. The difference in speed may not seem significant until there is a backlog of outgoing faxes due to any number of PC downtime issues. The backlog could take a couple days to complete transmitting and before it would only take an hour or two. This is becoming a very serious issue with our POs getting to the vendors before the cut-off time. I've checked all settings, spoke to tech support at US robotics, had our telcom guys look into it, and nothing has helped. Has anyone else experienced such a significant slowdown? Does anyone have a clue as to what could be the cause?

We went to the new integrator and MS Fax console in Dec 07.  I did not notice that the documents were taking longer to send after the switch and I don't really remember how long it took before.  I spot checked a few for today and found that our send time varies from 20-50 seconds per page.  Have you tried switching some vendors over to email?

20-50 seconds per page sounds much better than 2-3 minutes per page. What modem are you using? What Windows application are you using? And lastly, what type of phone line do you use? At the time of our upgrade, we also purchased a new PC, upgraded to Windows XP, and purchased a new modem; therefore, trying to narrow down the source of the problem has been difficult. But if you are not seeing any change, then I can at least eliminate the Fax Integrator and the Fax Console as the culprit.
I appreciate your response and the info.

Our fax server is running XP Pro using USRobotics 56K PCI Faxmodem (USR5670). Phone line? Just what came with the modem.

From all the info I gathered from Guru, web searches, and USR tech help, I narrowed the problem down to modem setup, driver, or security. I came back to the office one night and uninstalled all modem and driver files. I then reinstalled everything from the original disc. Made a few setup changes, and it worked!!! A 3 page PO that previously took 7 minutes to fax, had refaxed at 2:21 minutes.

Thanks, Maureen. We noticed the same issue here. Only we were using the same PC, same modem, same operating system (XP Pro) same, same, same. I figured that it was just something that we had to live with. Now, I'll get the tech guys to reinstall the modem/driver and we'll see how it progresses.

Thanks again!

You may want to check all the places (including the MS side of things) that speed is listed and make sure the modem speed did not get changed. It may have gotten inadvertently changed to a slower speed during the setup.
