Recently i developed a Lawson custom report. The report doesn't have any key parameters. Simply it has years and the periods as it's parameter, so the report runs for longer time. Anybody has a suggestion on how to reduce the report processing time? Thanks in Advance, Raja

What kind of report? Crystal, 4GL etc. What tables are you using?

Go to the ERD section of this site (link at the top) and select General Ledger. You will see GLTRANS. All of the fields in bold are part of the key index for that table. The more of those you specify, the faster the report will run. What else is the report doing? I used to run reports against GLTRANS in Access. I could run a report for a full year of history with no limits, pulling all fields in under 15 minutes. How long exactly is the report running? How many records are in GLTRANS? How many records does your report include? What does your report display?

I wouldn't put 5 minutes in the "long time" category. There are canned lawson reports that take 15 minutes in GL and 24 hours in HR. If you want to improve a report start with an HR Turnover report.

Initially it ran for around 40 minutes. By using filter API's, the report process time reduces. Thank u for all ur suggestions
