All,

As a part of our migration activities, we will be re-installing Lawson S3 & Landmark on new servers.

Perl is a pre-requisitive software which has to be installed before we start wilt LCT.

Please advise if Perl (active Perl) is a free software OR do we need to purchase licenses.

Rgds,

Vijay

ActivePerl has started charging for their version. We upgraded (to v10) and installed Strawberry Perl which they do not charge for.

Thanks Greg !, I just want to ask does it work just fine on Window's version. WHat is the version that you downloaded for V10, the free one !

Does it work fine with both LSF on AIX and with Landmark server (Windows). Thank You ! - Vijay

I cannot comment on AIX, as we are total Windows now with our platform change and upgrade. Seems to work well for us. This is perl 5, version 18, subversion 2 (v5.18.2) built for MSWin32-x64-multi-thread

BTW- It seems that there is some sort of incompatibility for installs running from any other drive than C: We installed it on D: at first, and had issues. Installed it on C: and they went away.

Hi Greg, We did our install about two years ago and had no trouble with the D drive. We are getting ready to upgrade our servers to 2012 and I hope that isn't the case now. Also, last month I downloaded a free version of Activestate Perl for my PC. Is it different for servers?

Really? Never heard of that.

I've been using D: drive for years on installs of Perl. No issues I've ever heard of.

ActiveState Perl offers their two most recent versions for free download. Unfortunately LSF and Landmark don't officially support either of those at the moment.

Yes, ActivePerl Community Edition is free to download. *BUT* If you are using ActivePerl for production, redistribution, on terminal servers, for thin client for app deployment (i.e. on MS Terminal Services, Citrix XenApp or File Servers), or for use on HP-UX/AIX/Solaris then ActivePerl Community Edition is not the right license for you.
