I've created a new ADAM instance that performs pass thru authentication.  I've done and ldapbind to that new instance.  Which exited w/o error.  I'm not seeing the lawson rmdata in the new instance.  Do I need to perform ldifgen using the RmMeta_Default.xml?  Are there any other steps that need to be done?  IE vi install.cfg and change all the old references to the new instance?  Reload lawsec, ios, etc in WAS?

The ldapbind is only used for password authentication. LSF9 should continue to see and use your pre-ldapbind LDAP container for the RM data. In other words, there is nothing stored in your new ADAM instance.
Thanks for using the LawsonGuru.com forums!

So instead of running adamsync /install and /sync against a new instance I should have used the existing instance?

Can I just change the install.cfg to point to the new instance and run ldifgen against that new instance? If so would I run ldifgen against the logan/portal..xml files and against the RmMeta_Default.xml file?

nope, install.cfg contains only the installation values. It does not contain the running values.

I got it to work. The account I was using for the administartor for new ADAM instance wasn't authenticating correctly. It's all good now. Thank you.

David,

We have the same challenge to move ADAM instances from one server to another server for our LSF 9 environments. If you could share how you did yours. It would be very helpful.

I am also interested in hearing people wax eloquent on this issue. I have clustered Windows environment and ADAM does not support clusters. The ADAM instance name on node2 is different than node1. How do you restore one ADAM instance to another?

Great Topic. We are just starting open enrollment today and the windows box running the adam services locked up. ! We were able get that box back up and authenticate but of course the topic of creating a new instance came up so I'd like to hear more about peoples experience. Any recommendations to run on a different os? I did find this article. http://www.wictorwilen.se...nother-computer.aspx
