Oracle Table Statistics

Hello Experts,

We have Lawson 803 talking to Oracle 10204 (on Solaris). I noticed that table statistics are not updated uniformly.

Can anyone tell :
1. How the statistics are updated ? (Only some tables seem to have them updated)
2. Should a job be setup inside Oracle (via dbms_jobs etc)  or we do it in Lawson .
