We are brand new to Lawson Financials. We are running the windows platform on 4 tiers virtualized on VMWare on top of C7000 enclosures and a LeftHand iSCSI san.  I'm sure I'm leaving out details that would help folks help us, so please ask away.

We now have had two tiers commit suicide.  Both the BI server and the Web server have crashed so hard that Windows boots to the recovery console.  It won't even come up under safe mode (command).  We then have to go to back up and do a full server recovery (very good test of our backups and DR).

Has anyone seen an issue like this?  IT (my department) is not entirely responsible for supporting the applications, we have outsourced that.  But, we are responsible for a secure and stable environment to run on.  So, our knowledge of this platform is fairly limited.

Can you get to any logs?
Is VMWare running on bare metal, and is it (the hypervisor) dying also?

Give me a call, this sounds interesting: 954-547-7210

Is LBI on Websphere?  Have you checked the WAS logs on the LBI server?

The webserver barely runs anything special. Sounds like a VMware stability/integrity issue to me than Lawson issue.
