How do you change the LDAP to bind  to a different Domain Controller

You can run the ldapbind command.  You should be able to accept the defaults except when you get to the domain controller.  Just use the exact syntax that is displayed and change the server name.

From personal experience, I'd strongly recommend binding your LDAP to a seperate host record from your actual domain controller's name.  This way you can have some flexibility without needing to re-run LDAPBIND every time you want to make a change.

Something like lawsondc.domain.com for example.

We are interested in using an LDAP alias for the domain controller.

Could you please explain in more detail how this is done?
