Does anyone know if a data dictionary exists for the 3 schemas that LBI installs?  We are specifically interested in the Reporting Services schema, but Framework Services, and SmartNotes would also be helpful.

Field names, sizes, descriptions, links to other tables, whatever exists out there.

Thanks much,

I had asked Lawson that question about a year ago and got no response. Good luck.

Lawson doesn't publish this type of info to my knowledge. One thing you can do is use a tool like schemaspy, available here:

http://schemaspy.sourceforge.net/

"SchemaSpy is a Java-based tool (requires Java 1.4 or higher) that analyzes the metadata of a schema in a database and generates a visual representation of it in a browser-displayable format. It lets you click through the hierarchy of database tables via child and parent table relationships. The browsing through relationships can occur though HTML links and/or though the graphical representation of the relationships. It's also designed to help resolve the obtuse errors that a database sometimes gives related to failures due to constraints."

Best of all, it's free...

Thanks, Chris... I knew there had to be a simple way to get this info out of the database... I will give schemaspy a try.
Cheers,

Chris, thanks for the tip. I personally use Visio, which has reverse-engineering.  Here's a diagram of EFS:

Hi,

Thanks for the info but the diagram is very difficult to read. Is there way it can be uploaded or emailed? Will really appreciate it.

Thank you.

Hi John,

I was just checking to see if you had a chance to repost the ERD. Thanks a bunch!

Yes, I was able to find them. I guess I did not expect them to be on bold etc. I just MISSED it.

Thanks again.

Just an FYI follow-up. I've just gotten a little time, and downloaded installed configured SchemaSpy and SchemaSpyGUI- along with their dependency Graphviz. These tools produce very nice html pages that gives me (and our report writing users) exactly what they've been asking for!! And the beauty is, it appears to work on most databases. Although this has not been personally tested. I could zip them up, and upload them, but your LBI schema may be slightly different than mine. I'd recommend using these tools Graphvix, SchemaSpy and SchemaSpyGUI! Sweet looking and somewhat interactive web-pages!

The table relationships and indexes are what our users have been asking about!

These are from LBI v9.0.3.2.122  --  It's about 20 MB unzipped.   4.2 M zipped up. Max upload for this forum is just 1 MB. Give me an email addy, and I'll try to email them to you.

Here you go.  Do you want me to add/host them under the ERDs tab as well?

Thanks Greg/John. I had done this for an older version, but it's nice to have for a more current version.
