We just converted from 8.1 to 9.1 Financial, Procurement and Supply Chain. In our warehouse we were able to print Pick Lists and other reports to Epson dot matrix printers (FX890) in 8.1 without problems. On 9.1 we are unable to control page width and form length. Lawson has not been able to give us a solution other than to write a custom script for each report or print to a laser printer. We like to avoid custom stuff whenever possible and a laser printer is not an option because we need multiple copies.
Has anyone else had this problem and found a easy solution?

Bruce,
Upfront, I do not have a direct answer for you. I do not know enough about the Lawson-printer-definition process to speak in detail. I am assuming you are using the dot-matrix for NCR duplicate/triplicate forms of your documents. We have had a couple of affiliates that had similar requirements. What we ended up doing was creating a Lawson printer defintion that reprinted the output to a separate paper-tray. There are a few advantages based on what you have heard from Lawson...
1 - This does not require reprogramming the output of the report, you simply direct it to the correct printer definition.
2 - NCR paper is cumbersome and expensive. In our example, one paper tray was filled with white paper and the other was yellow/canary.
3 - You can remove the dot-matrix printers. If there are laser printers already in the area, you have freed up a bit of desk space (assuming they have multi-tray capabilities). If not, you can use the laser printer as a general printer as well a duplicate/triplicate printer.
Sorry, I wish I could offer more technical details as to how the profile was created.
Best of luck,
Red

When we migrated from our old system (Matkon) to Lawson 8.0.3 in 2003, we went from Epson dot matrix to laser. Personlly I was happy to see the dot matrix go away. They were certainly work horses with very few mechanical problems but I found laser printers easier to work with on the technical side.
