Is anyone using the kitting function in S3 that allows you to create bundles of different or like items which inturn enables you to issue all items under one item number for that particular kit build.

We have been testing the work order feature here. What kind of questions do you have?

Some basic questions I have are what screens and steps are you using to build the Kit. I did some inquiry on my own and it appears you need to define the kit and components on IC11 or IC10.2. Then build the kits on the IC60. I not sure why but I do not have the feature to add the items on the IC60 ( I am leaning towards a security set up issue) but that is where I stopped. So are these the steps you are using or planning to use for your kit build? Also I read that the kit itself is not tracked in Lawson but the individual items are tracked when you issue the kit. Is this what you are finding during your testing? Thanks in advance for your help.

In order to get the kits to work you have to buy Work Order which is now renamed to Production Order. I have made a walk-through for set up for the users here. IC60 is where you build make to order kits, but IC62 is where you build make-to-stock kits. You have to turn work order on in IC01 and IC02.You also have to define the calendar in caldef. If you use make-to-order kits, then no they are not an inventory item; however, make-to-stock kits are inventory. Make-to-stock kits have to have the kit defined as inventory in IC12, plus all the components must be defined as inventory in IC12. The UOM will default to your stock UOM, so if you only need 2 needles in a kit and your stock UOM is box, it will not work. You would need to take the box down tot he each. We are not going to use make-to-order here. They are currently using IC21 to issue out inventory, make the kits and then IC21 again to put the kits back in inventory. The nice part about work order is it will figure the cost of the kit for you each time and you can adjust for shortage. The work order process will allocate out the inventory for the kit components and adjust the kit back in with current cost compiled.
