I have 2 vendor items in PO13.3. One was set to default and was the active vendor item showing in PO25.6.

I inactivated the active item, then set the other item as the default to activate, however when I check in PO25.6, the item I inactivated is on hold.

Is there a way to manage 2 items in PO13.3, so that when you inactivate one, the other one will populate in PO25.6 as the active item?

I assumed that this action would sort of be the reverse to when you Inactivate and Replace. The replacement item automatically replaces in PO25.6.

Hi Bev, why don't you just set the FC to "R" on the one you're inactivating and then replace it with the other vendor number? It would then populate in PO25.6 and the original would inactivate.

The replace/inactivate won't work because the replacement item number is already on the PO13.3.

My issue is, when I inactivate the number that is not needed and then activate and make the other number the default, PO25.6 does not change.

Quick Reply timing out for anyone else? I just lost all this. Bev - I've done this to myself and it is a PAIN. Step 1: Mark the old item as Active if it's not. Then mark as default. You should now have PO13 and PO25.6 agreeing with each other again. Step 2: Inactivate and Delete correct item. Step 3: Now use R to replace old item with correct item. If it doesn't let you delete the correct item, it's even more fun. Step 1: Remains the same. Mark the old item as Active if it's not. Then mark as default. You should now have PO13 and PO25.6 agreeing with each other again. Step 2: Keep the correct item active. Step 3: Now use R to replace CORRECT item with something else. We literally type WRONGITEM as the part number to avoid any possibility of future confusion. You should now have OLD item as the default tied to PO25.6, CORRECT item as inactive and WRONGITEM as active but not default. Step 4: You should now be able to delete CORRECT item. Step 5: Replace OLD item with CORRECT item using FC R. PO13 and PO25.6 should now match with the CORRECT item Step 6: You should be able to inactivate/delete OLD and WRONGITEM - but if not, you can at least inactivate them. GOOD LUCK.

The replace/inactivate won't work because the replacement item number is already on the PO13.3.

My issue is, when I inactivate the number that is not needed and then activate and make the other number the default, PO25.6 does not change.

That's weird. How I would handle it is as follows:

  1. Activate the old item that you inactivated
  2. Mark it has R and then type in the vendor item number to replace it with (it does not matter if it's already entered into PO13, I've tested it)
  3. Hit change and now PO25.6 should reflect the new number

We're using Lawson 10 so maybe there's a difference if you have a different version.

LOL - You are very welcome Bev!!! jk2 - If that works in v10 - that's the biggest incentive I've heard yet to upgrade. We're v9.01 and it gives you an error stating that the vendor item exists, all kinds of nonsense about the active status -- it's insane. We're supposed to start testing v10 in September. I'll put this on the to-do list.
