Is it possible to have this scenario for an item in IC11:

UOM1 = EA
UOM2 = BX
UOM3 = CA

CONV1 = 1
CONV2 = 10
CONV3 = 50

When it comes time to do inventory, we want to be able to count by UOM2.  Is is possible to have the Stock UOM be equal to the UOM2?

Jeremy,
There are two answers:
The first is that you can count in boxes and enter the quantity in boxes as you are set up today.  The key is that you have to manually change the UOM when entering the counts and that greatly disrupts the flow of the data entry.  It is workable, but not elegant.

The second is that, yes, you can, but you probably would not want to.  I was actaully testing this recently.  The real world (healthcare) example is sterile gauze, where there are 10 or so sterile packets (eaches) in a tray or pack.  We may want to distribute the eaches but we cannot buy by the eaches.  I could set the box to the stock/tracking UOM, but the each ends up coverting to 0.1000.  That can get pretty ugly pretty quickly.  We never implemented this as a "live" procedure, we just deal with the low UOM as the default counting UOM (see answer 1).

The alternative to answer 2 is that if you never transact in the each, don't build it.  This is workable for most non-stock/direct items.

Others may have different experiences.  Good luck,

Yes, but tracking and transaction should match stock UOM.

Thank you for the replies, and sorry for my length of time in replying.
It looks like we really can't just setup the system to count inventory by a different UOM other than UOM1.
