Hello all,

I was hoping for some guidance.  We were recently told by one of our vendors that we must now purchase an item by the each instead of the box.  There were 100EA/BX.  The problem was that we were also told the price would remain the same as if we were purchasing a box.  Since this item is stored in our warehouse and issued out as an each, the units are getting charged like they were issued a box.

PO28 - is now set up at $58.88/EA

Can anyone help point me in the right direction?

Thank you

We've had the same problem come up. It shows a clear lack of understanding of the actual word EACH!

To work around the issue, I created a UOM in our system for PC (piece). There are now 100PCs in the EA so we can continue to issue as we were before and they can call their box an each (even though it is actually a box).

Basically, if you have to buy it by what they call the each, you have to set up the pricing so that it is available to issue as less than that.

Hopes that helps!

Same thing happened to us with Cardinal when we had to buy an Alere item. The problem was that Alere still sold it by the BX so we had to have both EA and BX be the same price as well as be equivalent UOMs in case we wanted to buy direct.

We used the same work around that Michelle suggested and it worked out great (i.e. have 100PC in an EA and BX, so now our packaging string in Lawson is PC 1/EA 100/BX 100)

Can anyone let me know if I can make this change on the current item number or would I need to create a new item? I am receiving an error "Cannot change UOM; UOM is used by item location.

It is saying there is an ic12/ic81 somewhere that has it in use. You need to find it - IC40 will tell you for warehouses and IC82 will tell you for par locs/carts.

We add the new UOM as a secondary trans and buy UOM on IC11. Then use PO115, IC330 and IC331 to change the UOMs on templates, ic12s and IC81s to the new UOM.

IC11 should now let you make changes - assuming there are no open orders - and then we can use the same jobs to make any changes back as needed.

WARNING - if this a warehoused item - they will need to recount and make sure Lawson math has not occurred for either the count or the average cost.

Hello again,
I am trying to change the SUOM to PC but am now receiving an error "Quantities exist at locations; cannont change". THE SOH is zero'd out and I changed IC82 to reflect PC from EA but cannot change the SUOM in IC11 to reflect PC.

Double check the details for your inventory locations (IC40, drill around, details. Look for the unit of measure and the quantity. I've had it happen before that I made the PC the transaction unit of measure and then when I adjusted out the inventory, it adjusted it out in PC and not in the original EA. When this happens you'll see, for instance, -10 PC and 10 EA, which nets zero. You'd need to reverse that adjustment to get it truly to zero.
