I am attempting to use Design Studio to do a custom HR11 and am running into an error when I attempt to access the new form using lawform or if I attempt to reopen the form in Design Studio.  I can preview the page in Design Studio and it will work perfectly that way.  I have started from a fresh HR11 and saved it with no changes at all and it still comes up with this error.  "Invalid XML - Root node does not exist"  I have tried quite a few other form such as BN32, AP10 and etc and they all work fine.  It appears to be just HR11 that hates me.   The detailed part of the error message is

/servlet/Xpress?_TKN=hr11&_PDL=dev&_CONTENTDIR=/lawson/portal/content&_XSL=lawformc&_COMP=true&_CUST=&_OUT=xml&_ID=hr11.1_custom&_PARMS=rootdir|/lawson/portal||mode|notmodal||pdl|dev||hkey|||host|portal||uselists|0||iosVersion|9.0.0||portalVersion|9.0.1.1.135||&_NOCACHE=1235166231039
SSORequest() - sso.js

Any ideas on how I can trouble shot this some more?

Thanks  ---JayR

Check the XML file permissions and owner. I've had problems where these get assigned incorrectly.

This is on a windows box so I am would think that would not be an issue.

If that's not it, try copying the XML to a PC and loading in the browser to make sure it's valid XML.

Yes I have tried loading the broken HR11 in a browser and also I loading the good BN32 customization in a browser and I didn't notice any major differences.

I used the Fiddler software to intercept the XML as it was being pushed around and the error looks like on line 328 the attribute of "isprotected" is specified twice.

Let me upload what Fiddler found.

Any ideas on how to avoid this?

- did that also happen with the one I sent ?
- are you running SSL?
- what web server are you using?

I got our custom HR11 file working by just striping out the isprotected attribute. It is now working Yes! The file you sent does not have the isprotected attribute in it. I didn't try your file it but I suspect that it would work. I suspect that the consultant we had to do are LSF9 install may have installed too new version of Design Studio or something like that. Lawson support is leaning that way and so they weren't especially helpful.

Yes, sounds like a bug in Design Studio.
