BLANK ESS when logging into portal

Currently i've had a lot of my employees come to me with the problem that they are able to log into the portal but the ESS dropdown is not showing.  I've verified that all of the users have the ESS role in Lawson Security and have also tried using an SQL query to reset their ESS with no luck.  Anyone experience this problem and have any success troubleshooting it? Thanks,

Sounds like portal bookmark security. Do the have the right group security for ESS?

Yes they do, we also utilize LBI and the ESS seems to work just fine on that.  For some reason it is just not displaying on the portal for certain employees.  None of which have anything out of the ordinary in their settings.
