We are planning on moving users to use LAwson SMart Office. We have an issue with our ESS users.

How can you limit ESS users access to screens like HR11, PA52.?

Right now we still use LAUA and limit ESS portal access via Portal Roles (i.e.remove search screen, bookmark the ESS module)

Within smart Office, can you do the same thing for a users profile ?

You wouldn't be moving the ESS users to Smart Office--they should continue to use Portal and Infor Workspace.
Thanks for using the LawsonGuru.com forums!

Hi
thanks for your reply.

Still seems like a little flaw.
For example, our staff accountants have no HR11 token access; but once LS is rolled out and the ESS role is added to their profile – they will have access to their data in HR11. It may only be view status; but it seems like a “flaw” in Smart Office to allow a user to search for those screens.

The data will be secure; but the “beauty” of ESS in portal is creating a protal role and securing the “search” box from view .

You can do roles in LSO; but securing the “start” or "Search" box does not appear to be an option as it is in Portal.

Anyhow - not a huge issue because the data is secure.

That happens in Portal.  I'm a procurement user - if I go to the search box and type in HR11 it will let me see my data.  I require the search box.  I'm just the only one that knows about it because I'm the one HR calls to verify I can't see add/change/delete and that I can't inquire on someone else's number or use Previous/Next/Drill Around.

Is there something new in LSO that we'll need to test?

It really isn't a flaw.

You can still get to HR11 in Portal now even with the Search box removed, and in LSO, and if secured correctly with LS Security, you should be able to see only your own data - no one else's.

HR11 can be considered just a 'view' of your data. ESS screens is another 'view' of your data.
