Has anyone received an MA54 error that the "date is before control closing date"? We get several dozen error each month right after month end and the days after for Distrib_dates of the last few days of the previous month. It appears to be EDI related. Any suggestions/insight would be greatly appreciated!

      Hi Natalie,

To my knowledge, the Post Date is entered by the ED502 job that bring inbound EDI.  Whatever date that job is run and the record is pulled, it enters within the Post Date field.  Obviously, when the record fails and remains in the MA54 queue, that date is no longer valid as the GL posting could occur at any point after a fix.

When you do your month end module closings, it renders you unable to back-post to a closed period via these jobs.  So you need to update that Posting Date (Distrib Date) to an active GL period.  In most instances, you can just "T" today it, click change, and then release it.

To prevent these, you'd need to be very vigilant in resolving MA54 errors.  In addition, reviewing your scheduled jobs to ensure they don't conflict with your month end closing procedure is also recommended.  However, there is always a chance for this error every cycle, as it really boils down to timing/process flow.

      Hope this info helps.
