One idea would be enter into a Application Management Service agreement. This is where the vendor places his hardware at your facility and remotely manages the Lawson environment including applications, database and bolt-ons. The vendor equipment sits in your network. The big plus is it is in your local domain (i.e. speed, security, access, partial management). Combines the best of both worlds.
Just another alternative.

I hear that Velocity is a very poor Host. We are hosted with Siemens and they are ok but we are not happy with performance. They are decient at change management though. Don't know anything about netASPx are they new? Is anyone out there with them?

Wilth Siemens turning over the hosting to Velocity- have you done this switch yet and if so how did it go. We are currently also with Siemens and getting moved in Nov. Velocity is leaning us toward windows verses unix so if you can share any information on your move it would be appreciated

We are also with Siemens (on AIX/Unix) and moving evidently to Velocity in spring of '08. Is Velocity pushing you towards moving to Windows, or are they leaving it up to you? I kind of hate to make any changes to our system that drastically. Anything I can find out about hosting options and client satisfaction for Lawson I would be very anxious to read. Thanks.

I would say they are expressing this as a better way to do business. I'm currently not sure what we decided to do. I hope we stay as we are, I have no need for any changes. We run sound and have very few real major issues.

I clicked on 'Forums' and got quite a few that came up but didn't see the 'General' forum...? I certainly want to see this thread kept going as I suspect there are going to be a number of us facing a migration to new hosting.

Well, you've obviously found it since you've posted to it! :)
I named the forum "LWSN Business Practices" for lack of a better name...

Thanks, I didn't recognize the forum name.
Anyone who has experience of moving Lawson from one OS to another, or with remote hosting vendors, please post your experiences. My org is supposed to move from Siemens to Velocity and we would like to know as much as we can on all aspects of this in advance - whether you are happy with your hosting company, how your migration process went, etc. Thanks!

When are you scheduled to move? Velocity has not shared much information on how to open tickets, track them or even contact them and we are scheduled to move in Nov. I would think by this point that they would want you to know how they work as far as event tickets, how long they take to respond to an event, when they will run the T1 lines and routers. All I get is this will be seamless. So please share I would like to have a comfort feeling about right now.

We are scheduled to migrate from Siemens to Velocity at this point, in March and April of next year concurrent with our LSF9 upgrade. Is that how your move to Velocity is scheduled? I would certainly like to build up a group of RCO Lawson users to help determine which hosting companies do the best or worst job. I would like to email you just to exchange contact info if that is OK, and would like to do the same with anyone else whose Lawson system is hosted.

I am a programmer with 25 years experience, 15 of that with Lawson software. I've been with this company for a year now and it is my first experience with this type vendor. I work in a shop that uses Netaspx, well they are called Navasite now. Overall I am very pleased with them. I was suprised at the level of technical support navasite provides. I have asked questions on programming, FTP and PGP, shell scripts and even portal design and maintenance and have received excellent assistance.
We do have a few times a week, during peak traffic, when the accounting dept. complains about response times.
They also assist the users with "how to's". You can also purchase instructors time and have them do training at your site for reasonable fees, we recently hired one for three days that did an excellent job for the payroll dept. We are very pleased with Navasite.
