Hi, I'm new to the Lawson environment and am trying to identify learning resources so I can gain proficient knowledge of the platform. My co-workers have been very helpful but I want to learn as much as possible on my own. My role is a Technical Application Engineer. Therefore, I'm interested in learning the technical side, not the functional side. Although, I do need to know the basics of the user facing application in order to assist users. I have years of previous technical experience as a programmer and database developer on Windows and Unix/Linux. I've tried searching on the Infor Xtreme web-site but I don't know what documentation and reference guides to start with. I've requested some CBT training but that may or may not happen, so I'm stuck with reading manuals and asking questions. Our Environment: ============== AIX Windows Lawson 10 Landmark MIngle Oracle 11 Specific Learning Goals ================== Lawson Security Overview of Lawson Architecture IPA - I've already developed a couple of basic IPA's Most Common Lawson Commands in AIX Any Other Relevant Information Could anyone please provide the names or links to documentation and reference guides that will assist me? Any feedback appreciated. Thanks.

The install guides (specifically the overview/prerequisite sections) will help you see how the architecture fits together. From there, exploration is the next step. If you have a dev/test system. Run the commands with the appropriate help options to see what tools you have, as there may not be a comprehensive command reference guide. Google may also have good results if you need to search something specific, especially if it’s third-party component related Other than that, I use YouTube to see where the company is going in the future (Infor has done a great job posting talks and demos) and the showcases and user groups to get a feel of questions the community has at large. As for your company specifically, if you have a call tracking system for user issues, look at what issues your users have concerning Lawson, so you can familiarize yourself with pain points. See if someone saved off the go-live or upgrade documents from the last effort. That will give you some view into the business usage of the product

...other than that, feel free to give me a call if you are looking for something off the beaten path (which can include stuff that should be everywhere). 505.433.7744

Thanks for the quick response! Currently, I'm still in the "deer in the headlights" phase but can learn quickly once I know where to focus my efforts.

I have been doing this for 20 years, I sleep by the following hardcopies of Lawson Application Development Workbench Standards, Lawson Admin data access, System Utilities reference guide and Application Interfaces, Application Development workbench, and Lawson Guru. The documents I actually have are still version 8.0.2 and I am working in a Lawson version 10.0.1 today.........

Alexandre, Thanks so much for your timely and encouraging reply. Less than a minute before your reply, I had just sent an email to my manager requesting formal Lawson training. Although my training request may not be granted due to budgetary constraints, I am grateful for all advice and guidance received from LawsonGuru. Thanks again.
