I read in the IRS instructions that all errors needed repair.  But I also found on the web that the IRS will accept your file with the Accepted With Errors status.  I had two employees with TIN errors; but when I checked them on BSO, they matched what I sent just fine. Anyone else have something similar?

    Thank you!

      1. The IRS maintains a separate database from the SSA. Just because you match against the SSA doesn't mean that matches what the IRS has.

      2. TIN Validation errors can also be referring to any covered individuals listed in that record (if you are self-insured), and actually that's likely the source of most of your errors since one would presume that errors with the employee's own information would have been encountered when you did your W-2 transmit.

      3. You'll want to check out the latest webinar released on the AIR site, as it has information regarding your requirements for following up on these errors and links to an IRS publication that goes into more depth.

Thank you for the helpful feedback.  I think the next step for me is to contact the two employees and get some information verified and hopefully I will get info so I can fix the two errors.  Thanks!

Open google and look for these documents, they are full of good info.

This most recent webinar on the IRS website is real good too.  The IRS has lots of good webinars.
